Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Croix Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 5:30 pm. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom.<\/p>\n
The agenda is as follows:<\/p>\n
Decision Meetings (<\/span><\/i>public testimony will <\/span><\/i>not<\/span><\/i> be heard)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0013-24- Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) Feeder 1A & 2A Underground Electrical Project. The project is proposing to install underground ducts with manholes, pad-mounted transformers and other underground devices to replace existing overhead distribution lines in the town of Christiansted. The Feeder 1A underground project covers from the eastern end of Fred Thomas to Lagoon Street. Feeder 2A underground project spans from the intersection of Hospital Street and Port Street to the intersection of Fisher and Prince Street.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0006-24- Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) Feeder 8B Underground Electrical Project. The project is proposing to install underground ducts with manholes, pad-mounted transformers and other underground devices to replace existing overhead distribution lines in the town of Frederiksted. The project will extend along Prince Street with branches extending along Lagoon St., Market St., Hill St., King Cross St., Queen Cross St., and Fisher St. The lines will turn at the end of these branches along Strand St., New St., Queen St., and Custom House St.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0005-24- Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) requests permission to use FEMA Funds to bury utility lines from Queen Mary Highway along Estate Herman Hill Road to VITEMA (Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency) Road to the renovated VITEMA Headquarters. The purpose of the project is to provide improved electrical power resilience to this critical infrastructure and residents on the island of St. Croix. The underground project location covers Queen Mary Highway along Estate Herman Hill Road to VITEMA Road.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Items on the agenda include a Decision Meeting for Federal Consistency Determination, CZM0017-24-Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority Convenience Centers- Estate Concordia\/Cotton Valley\/Mon Bijou. VIWMA is proposing to create three (3) convenience centers for St. Croix Residents. The residential convenience centers will create convenient, safe disposal sites for solid waste and recycling.<\/p>\n The proposed convenience centers will help reduce environmental burdens directly affecting the neighboring communities through improper dumping and household waste disposal.
