Hannah’s Rest Undergrounding Project Leads to Temporary Centerline Road Closures<\/h1>\n

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands \u2014 The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (\u201cWAPA\u201d or \u201cthe Authority\u201d) advises motorists that roadwork has commenced along Centerline Road in the Hannah\u2019s Rest area as part of the ongoing Hannah\u2019s Rest Phase 1 Electrical Undergrounding Project.<\/p>\n

Beginning Monday, January 5, 2026, through Friday, February 13, 2026, traffic in both directions will experience impacts along sections of the roadway between the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion and the Caribbean Centers for Boys and Girls of the Virgin Islands in Frederiksted.<\/p>\n

These temporary lane closures will allow WAPA\u2019s contractor, J. Benton Construction, to continue installing underground electrical infrastructure. This work is critical to improving service reliability and strengthening the resilience of St. Croix\u2019s electrical grid against storms.<\/p>\n

Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, follow posted detour signage, and adhere to traffic cones and flagger instructions to help ensure a safe environment for workers and the traveling public.<\/p>\n

WAPA thanks the community for its patience, cooperation, and continued support as this important infrastructure project moves forward.<\/p>\n
