POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Associate Director of Construction Management, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the overall construction operations of the territory’s Super Project Management Office (Super PMO), which will oversee the Rebuild USVI initiative. The individual will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring project efficiency, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The incumbent will bring a wealth of experience in construction management and a strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the construction department in alignment with agency goals and objectives
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute construction strategies that enhance project delivery and client satisfaction
• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, ensuring successful planning, execution, and completion of construction projects
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, identifying and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise
• Build and lead a high-performing construction management team
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting professional development and growth opportunities for team members
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with agencies, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders
• Address agency concerns, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure adherence to project specifications and industry standards
• Champion a culture of safety, overseeing the implementation of safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Manage construction budgets and financial forecasts
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize project profitability
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with construction software and project management tools.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with significant coursework in purchasing. An advanced degree (MBA, MSc) is a plus.
B. Experience:
• Four (4) years of progressive work experience in contract management, evaluations, or procurement
• Proven experience as a Construction Manager with a track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
C. Professional Certifications:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are highly desirable
D. Licenses:
• A valid professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent is required.
• State-specific construction manager or general contractor licenses are applicable.
SALARY:
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
