CZM Meeting for St. Thomas Savan Gut Phase II

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public of the St. Thomas Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 4:00 pm. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform ZOOM.

The meeting will include a Public Hearing for Federal Consistency Determination, CZM0030-24, which is related to Savan Gut Phase II and has been submitted by the U.S. Amry Corps of Engineers.

The purpose of the project is to reduce flood damage to the Jane E. Tuitt Elementary School and the Central Business District in downtown Charlotte Amalie. The Savan section of Charlotte Amalie has extremely high runoff rates due to the steep slopes in the upper basin. The Savan Gut project area is in Charlotte Amalie on the south side of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
