The Virgin Islands Department of Education informs the public that the Department of Planning and Natural Resources has scheduled a public hearing of the St. John Committee of the Virgin Islands Coastal Zone Management Commission to be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. via the video conferencing platform Zoom.
The meeting will include a Public Hearing for Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0006-25 related to the reconstruction of the Julius E. Sprauve School, which has been approved for replacement by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
As part of the Department’s continued commitment to the modernization of educational facilities across the territory, the Julius E. Sprauve School will be relocated from its current site at #18-14 Estate Enighed, St. John to a new site at 01-137A Catherineberg (Hammer’s Farm), Cruz Bay Quarter, St. John.
The proposed project entails the design and construction of a complete, modernized school campus to serve the students and community of St. John. The new facility will include: classrooms, administrative offices, library, cafeteria and kitchen, bathrooms, stairways and balconies, hallways, fixtures, equipment, and essential contents.
VIDE encourages the community, especially residents of St. John, to participate in this important public hearing to learn more about the future of the Julius E. Sprauve School and provide their input.
