DPNR Schedules St. Croix Elementary Schools for CZM Approval

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Croix Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 5:30pm. This meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Microsoft Teams.

The agenda is as follows:

Public Hearing for Federal Consistency Determination No. CZM0010-25- Virgin Islands Department of Education- CLAUDE O. MARKOE SCHOOL PRE-K- 8TH- DEMOLITION AND RECONSTRUCTION. The purpose of the project is to demolish the existing Claude O. Markoe School and design and construct a completely new school, including classrooms, administrative offices, a library, a cafeteria, a kitchen, bathrooms, stairways, balconies, hallways, and all fixtures, equipment, and contents to replace the campus with a new campus. The project is located at 71-75 Mars Hill, Frederiksted St. Croix, VI 00840.

The purpose of the project is to demolish the existing Alexander Henderson School and design and construct a completely new school, including classrooms, administrative offices, a library, a cafeteria, a kitchen, bathrooms, stairways, balconies, hallways, and all fixtures, equipment, and contents to replace the campus with a new campus. The project is located at No. 31 Estate Concordia Frederiksted, St. Croix V.I. 00820.
