Housing Authority completes Demolition of Estate Tutu Hi-Rise Buildings

The Virgin Islands Housing Authority is notifying the general public of the opening of the roadway leading to and from the Estate Tutu Hi-Rise area (Buildings 10 – 22), also known as “Ras Valley,” on Monday, February 14, 2022.
Due to public safety concerns, the roadways leading into and throughout the demolition site of the hurricane-damaged Estate Tutu Hi-Rise Apartments were previously closed. This closure allowed for the successful demolition of Buildings 10, 11, 12, 14 and 22, without any incidents of harm or damage to motorists or pedestrians traversing the area.

Motorists may now access the roadway through Estate Tutu Hi-Rise by entering Douglas Drive (in front of the Estate Tutu Hi-Rise’s main entrance), then take a left through Laurie Street, and exit on E Street (head north to Mandahl Road) (see Map). This route is One-way Only and will be marked with directional signs. This allows motorists and pedestrians the option of utilizing another route into the Annas Retreat residential area, without solely having to use the roadway between Holy Family Church and Foster Plaza.

VIHA has completed this phase of its redevelopment plan and is one step closer to reconstructing a safe and affordable community at Estate Tutu – Phase II! The Virgin Islands Housing Authority is exceedingly grateful to the neighboring communities of the Estate Tutu Hi-Rise area! This successfully completed demolition project could not have been possible without your continued patience and cooperation.
