VITEMA began the installation of tsunami warning systems in March. Most of the 19 warning signals have been installed on St. Thomas to include poles and siren heads at Magen’s Bay, Crown Bay, Coki Beach, and Cancryn School.

Twenty-five additional systems will be installed throughout the territory, 17 on St. Croix, 7 on St. John, and 1 on Water Island. Once each installation is complete, the community can expect a brief test of the signal.

Work will begin on St. John this month, and the project should be finished by July 2021.
